Eid al-Fitr, also known as Eid after the Holy month of Ramadan, is very important event for the Muslims worldwide. This Eid is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, and is at the first day of the next lunar month of Shawwal.
On the Eid day, Muslims offer 2 Rakat Eid prayer in morning in congregation in the mosque. They wear new dress and special food and sweets are prepared on this occasion. Eid is celebrated with family and friends and gifts are distributed among them.
The date of Eid is dependent on the sighting of the moon. The chances of moon sighting in Oman are either on the evening of 4th of June or 5th of June as 1st day of Ramadan was on 7th June 2019. According to the sighting of the moon, the first day of Eid al-Fitr 2019 in Oman can be on Wednesday, 5th June 2019 or on Thursday, 6th June 2019.
In either case, a long weekend is expected in Oman due to Eid holidays and its proximity with weekend. Have you planned something for this long weekend? Expats in Oman usually celebrate Eid with their family in their home countries while some plan to go to another country during these holidays. There are many people who have staycation (a holiday spent in one’s home country rather than abroad). Whatever is your case, there are exciting options. Share in comments how you are planning your eid holidays.
