Exterior of the Grand Mosque
The staircase is from the outside to go to the upper level after doing ablution. Mosque building is built with stone bricks, without any external painting.
Interior of the Grand Mosque
The interior of the mosque is as beautiful as the exterior. It has pillars and a fan is mounted on each pillar to give cool air to worshippers.
There is a carpet on the floor, maroon color, on which you cannot step with shoes on. As its a place of worship, shoes need to be removed before entering the mosque.
Mimbar, a wooden mini staircase with a place to stand in the top, is a special structure, on which the prayer leader (known as Imam) stands for giving the sermon during the Friday Prayer. There are two sermons on the day of Friday after the calls to prayers. These are in Arabic Language.
There is a special segregated place for women to pray on the same floor.
The noble Quran, the holy book of Muslims, is placed there.
A digital prayer clock is hung on the wall to show timings of five daily prayers – Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha.
The Grand Mosque is at ideal location and if you plan a visit to this area either at Zuhr or Asr time, you can pray Qsr and combine both prayers. That’s what I did. Alhumdulilah!
