Review of Golden Tulip Hotel, Seeb

Golden Tulip Hotel is ideally located near currently operational airport (I am specifically using word ‘currently’ here as the new airport is under construction and this will help in distinguishing both of them). The drive to the airport is of 5 minutes only. This close proximity to the airport was the reason why we selected this airport. All tourist attractions can be easily accessed from this hotel. The rates of this hotel are also pretty reasonable. Highly recommended.

When entering into the hotel, the reception is on the left side. The check-in process was swift (took only couple of minutes). However, nobody at the reception informed us about the complementary breakfast and what other amenities hotel is offering. No direction to the room was provided. But we managed to get to the room by following the markings.

The room we got was far away from the elevator. It took us couple of minutes to reach the room from the main lobby. 2 Nos. elevators were there in the lobby. Our room was in first floor and on the same floor the pool was located. The pool was okay and the maximum depth of the pool was 3m. The least depth was 1.2 m. However, the pool chairs were very limited (less than 10) and you cannot find one for you if some people are there. Even lesser umbrellas. There was no life guard and assistant at the pool side. The water was seemingly clean.

The hotel tennis court was good. The gym was okay. Sorry couldn’t take the photograph for pool, gym and tennis court.

Check-out process was smooth and prompt and the luggage was brought down swiftly.

The hotel had a big parking (free) and was nearby. The hotel was next to the International Exhibition Center.

The bedroom:

The size of the bedroom was acceptable. The furniture, curtains and carpets were old and its better to go for renovation and replacement. However, everything was clean.

Two problems we have faced during our stay. First one was that when we entered our room the electricity supply got cut off. On calling, technician came and energized the tripped circuit breaker. Second was that the bathroom door got stuck and was fixed when we called at the reception.

The room was cleaned everyday properly.

TV, Mirrow and Table

Access to the Balcony

The Balcony and the table at the balcony (chairs missing 🙂 )

The balcony was a real plus. Although the balcony didn’t have a view (facing wall if you sit) and the passage was common for all the balconies in the first floor. If the room is on any other floor, the balcony will be private. The chairs were missing in our balcony. It should have been provided at our check-in.

Don’t forget to lock the balcony access from the room as the passage is common to all the balconies in the first floor from outside.

Tea Maker and mugs

Only 2 teabags, 2 coffee sachets and 2 coffee mates (Coffee-Mate is a non-dairy creamer manufactured by Nestlé) were provided. This counting really irritated us, as we used to have 2 coffee mate in one cup of coffee.

Bathroom:

The bathroom was a bit small and outdated. Need renovation.

The tolietries were okay.

Breakfast:

Breakfast was served in the “Le Jardin” Restaurant located at ground floor, adjacent to the main lobby. The timing was 6:30 am to 10:30 am. The breakfast had same menu every day except for one potato dish that was repeating every second day.

Tea and Lemon Mint

How to make this lemon mint? Grab the water in the glass, put some lemon which were placed near tea maker. Ask for Mint leaves from the guy who is making Omelettes. Add those mint leaves and enjoy a glass of refreshing Lemon Mint (which is not at the buffet breakfast but you can make it yourself 🙂 )

Cereals and Dry Fruits

Fruits and Fruit Yogurt

This potato dish was changing (repeating every 2nd day), the rest of the dishes were same everyday.
