Salalah International Airport or commonly known as Salalah Airport (Salalah Airport Code IATA: SLL) is the second largest airport in Sultanate of Oman.

This is the first modern airport in the country, which started operation on 15th June 2015. I was fortunate enough to land on Salalah International Airport on the very first day of its operation on 15th June 2015.

Rent a Car at Salalah Airport

Wifi Facility

There’s a good wifi available at the airport. The service is free. You need to have a GSM number to connect as OTP will be sent on that number.

Cafes and Coffee Shops

There are multiple cafes and coffee shops in Salalah International Airport, most notable ones are Subway and Costa Coffee.

Costa Coffee is located at two locations in the airport – one inside the terminal and another before the check in counters.

Salalah International Airport LoungesThere are two lounges inside the airport – Al Khareef Lounge and Plaza Premium Lounge. My personal favorite is Al Khareef Lounge for the food and Plaza Premium if you want to sit in calmness.

Salalah Airport Car Parking Charges

There are two paid parking areas in Salalah International Airport – Parking P1 and Parking P2. Both parking areas are shaded car parking and can be used for both long term parking and short term parking.

The rates for short term parking are 0.500 rials per 30 minutes and for long term are 2.000 Omani Rials per day.There are paying machines at various locations inside the airport and at parking areas to pay the parking charges. These machines only take Omani rials of 100 biaza (0.100 rials), 500 biaza (0.500 rials), 1 rial and 5 rials denominators.Other currency notes and credit / debit cards are not acceptable. If you don’t have Omani rials, don’t worry, there are couple of ATMs at the arrival area to withdraw Omani rials (minimum OMR 5 and in multiple of OMR 5).

Trolleys and Porter Service

The trolleys are available free of cost for both the departing and arriving passengers. Porter service is also available at departure and arrival areas for assistance to the passengers.

Departing passengers can take the trolleys from the passenger drop area in front of the terminal building, and from car parking P1 and P2.For arrival passengers, the trolleys are available at the baggage reclaim area after immigration.

Baggage Sealing

Baggage wrapping / baggage sealing can be carried out the airport at additional cost before the check in counters on the right side. The price for wrapping a regular size bag is around 2 Omani rials. Depending upon the size of the luggage, the price may vary.

Mwasalat Public Bus Transport from Airport

There is daily public bus service from Salalah Airport to other places in the city till Salalah Port. These buses can be taken from the Arrivals area, which can be identified by the red color they have.

Taxi fares for transfer from Salalah Airport to hotels and residential areas in Salalah is fixed and affixed near the taxi office.

The rates to Taqa, Mirbat and other places in Dhofar are also mentioned.
