Something new came up in Salalah this Khareef (Khareef 2019). It’s Hot Air Balloon Carnival in Salalah! This festival added a new thing to do in Salalah, second largest city in Oman and the largest in Dhofar Governorate.
This post was written before the start of the Balloon festival but is constantly updated with photographs and more details since the commencement of the Hot Air Balloon festival that started in Monsoon season in Dhofar Governorate of Oman.

Balloon rides are one of the major attraction for the tourist worldwide. The most popular destinations in the world where people enjoy the aerial views from the Balloons are Turkey, Arizona, Myanmar, California, France, France, New Zealand, Switzerland and UAE. Balloon ride in Cappadocia, Turkey is usually on the bucket list of most of the global travelers. Balloon Carnival in Salalah has a great chance to become the most popular Balloon ride in Middle East.
Khareef is the monsoon season in Dhofar, which commences from June 21 each year and ends at September 21.
The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in cooperation with other companies (Hemity, Awaan and Sabeen) is organizing Balloon Carnival from 20th July to 25th August 2019.
The carnival has started on 20th July 2019 and will continue for a month.
The carnival area is located near Ain Sahalnoot (also written as Ain Sahalnout), covering a total area of 110,000 square meters.
Ain Sahalnoot is a spring and one of the famous tourist destination in Salalah. During the Khareef season visitors put this place in the list-to-see-places. This awesome mountainous place is just near Salalah – Thamrait Highway.

The carnival will host 15 hot air balloons, which will go up to 100 meters and enable riders to see beautiful Salalah from the sky for the first time. During Khareef season, the mountains in Salalah and Dhofar turn green each year and the aerial view must be quite good to see. For this first of its kind carnival, organizes are expecting around 1 Million visitors in Salalah.

How do we book a balloon ride for ourselves? Is there a price to it, and what’s the duration of the ride?
