Driving a luxury car in Oman is not a problem. If you cannot afford a brand new one, the second hand car is quite cheap and easily available. Just grab it and enjoy the powerful engine.
Running cost is very cheap. The tank can be toped up completely for less than $13. The price of petrol is around 31 cents per litre (omr 0.121).
If you are visiting Oman for a short time, and willing to rent a vehicle, the fuel cost will be a segment of your daily expense. The category B vehicle has a daily rental of omr 15 to 25, depending on various rates like corporate rates, online rates, counter rates etc. There is a daily charge of OMR 2 against CDW (Collision Damage Wavier) and one time OMR 3 for Muscat airport surcharge, if you are taking the vehicle from the airport.
We have taken the vehicle on rent from Budget, Muscat Airport. The vehicle condition is okay and the staff is also nice. However they take half an hour to bring car to the airport after arriving at airport counter.
