Since few years there had been many news about the world’s longest flights and airlines are competing with each other to be a carrier of the longest non-stop flight operated. But now a record will be made for the World’s shortest flight between Oman and UAE, on Airbus A380, the largest commercial plane in the world with double decker seating.
From July 1, 2019, Emirates will be operating two daily flights between Dubai, UAE and Muscat, Oman, making it the world’s shortest flight of the aviation giant plane A380. The distance between Muscat and Dubai is 340 kilometers. The flight duration is around an hour.

Shorter than the Wiring on the Aircraft
This world’s shortest flight is literally shorter than the length of all the wiring in the double decker A380. According to the manufacturer – Airbus, the wiring in A380 plane is over 500 kilometers if stretched and laid out end to end.
The Previous Shortest Flight
Emirates held the previous shortest distance flight on A380, which was between Doha and Dubai (379 kilometers). All flights between Qatar and UAE, however, are cancelled since 2017.
Schedule of Muscat – Dubai Flights on A380
The twice daily A380 journey will be on flights EK 862/863 and EK864/865 to and from Muscat International Airport.
The Morning Flight
EK 862, which will be Emirates morning flight, will depart Dubai at 0825 hrs and will arrive in Muscat at 0940 hrs. The return flight, EK 863, will depart Muscat at 1115 hrs, and will arrive in Dubai in the afternoon at 1225 hrs.
The Evening Flight
EK 864, Emirates late afternoon flight, will depart Dubai at 1610 hrs and will arrive in Muscat at 1725 hrs. EK 865 will depart Muscat at 1905 hrs, and will arrive in Dubai at 2015 hrs.
Note: The above schedule is for the summer starting from July 1, 2019. Flight timings will vary slightly in late October, with the commencement of the winter schedule.
