Hamad International Airport, Doha

Doha has a state of art newly constructed airport “Hamad International Airport” The airport has opened in 2014 and is named after the previous Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Terminal 1 consists of 5 Concourses i.e. Concourse A, B, C, D and E. The Airport is nice and have several facilities you can use while waiting for the flight such as lounges, wifi connectivity, dinning, duty free shopping, quiet rooms for men and women.

Wifi connectivity is easy and doesn’t require you to enter your GSM number for logging in.

The airport has a bear placed in the center of the airport transfer lobby. The bear is named as “Lamp Bear”. Most of the passengers are taking photos with this bear. Dinning and duty free shopping options are available on the sides of this bear.

This airport is the hub for Qatar Airways, national carrier of Qatar. The airline arranges transit accommodation, if the stay at the airport is 8 to 12 hours. It can arrange complementary city tour if your transit time is up to 8 hours. The complementary city tour will include 3 hours city tour visa, 3 hours city tour on a bus with a travel guide, a bottle of water and pick and drop to the airport. For availing your complementary city tour, you have to go to the city tour desk in the transit lobby and get registered. This is on first come first serve basis. There are 4 city tours daily. So you must have a transit time falling in time of the tour and you have sufficient time to complete the tour. Else you can take visa on arrival, if you qualifies for it or pre-arrange a visa before reaching Qatar.
