There are so many coconut fruit huts in Salalah, the largest numbers are near Haffa Beach. These coconut huts are located just besides the coconut and banana farms and the fruits sold here are freshly taken from the farms.
Besides coconut and bananas, these fruit huts also sell other fruits like sugar cane, chicko, pine apple, papaya and others.
People usually stop here to buy coconut drink and sip it directly from the fresh coconut via straw.
There are two types of coconut drinks these fruit huts sell. One is at atmosphere temperature. The coconuts are lying on the ground and the seller will pick up from this pile of fresh coconut if you want non-chilled version. The other option is the refrigerated ones, which are chiller than the one kept outside.
There is one more selection criteria, whether you want to have more drink or more coconut.
There’s a price chart placed on each fruit hut. The usual price of a coconut is 0.200 Rials Omani (200 Biaza) per coconut and for Banana it’s 0.300 to 0.600 Omani rials per kilogram depending upon the type.
When in Salalah, just try these fruits. Till then let me take the sip from my coconut 🙂
