Urdu, which is a widely spoken language in Pakistan, India and adjoining countries, follows Arabic and Persian scripts in writing. Like both Persian and Arabic it’s written from right to left and in cursive manner. Usually same words in Urdu and Arabic are written in a similar pattern or with only a slight deviation.
Being a native Urdu speaker, I find it easier to read Arabic in the Middle Eastern countries until there are some words which are written in a distinctive way. One of them is Mona, a name for a girl and perhaps one of the most famous names in the World thanks to the Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. This name is common in Asian, Gulf and European countries.
