Maisrah Island is the largest island island in Sultanate of Oman and has around an area of around 650 square kilometer.
How to Reach Masirah Island?
The island is administratively part of Ash Sharqiyyah governorate, but can only be approached by Al Wusta governorate. The port of Shannah (In Arabic known as Mina Shannah – ميناء شنه) is from where you can take the ferry to the island.

The ferry will dock at the Masirah Ferry Port, known in Arabic as Marsi Masirah (مرسى مصيرة). This port is located in Hilf – Masirah’s only town. This town is located at the Northern end of the island.

Ferry Options for Masirah Island
There are options of the ferry to take your vehicle with you as there are no taxi in Masirah and limited car hire. The ferry service that I recommend is run by Oman government and is known as National Ferry Company.
These catamaran ferries (A catamaran, informally, a “cat”, is a multi-hulled watercraft featuring two parallel hulls of equal size. It is a geometry-stabilized craft) are equipped with the safety equipment.
It’s highly recommend to book this ferry online as there is limited ferries per day. Booking online ensures that you don’t miss this ferry and you have the booking for your preferred timing.
At the time of writing this post (Jan 2023), NFC ferry timings are as follows:
Ticket fare is 3.6 Omani rials per adult per way and for SUV vehicle it will be 10 Omani rials per way.
